Guest Peter Pommes Posted October 9, 2006 Share #1 Posted October 9, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello! I just heard yesterday that velvia from Fuji has been discontinued by Fuji. Are there any other ISO 50 transparency films around In dire need Peter
Advertisement Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 Hi Guest Peter Pommes, Take a look here Fuji Velvia. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
wizard Posted October 9, 2006 Share #2 Posted October 9, 2006 Velvia 50 should still be available, as it was discontinued only very recently. Buy as many as you need and stock them in your freezer, they will last a long, long time. My freezer currently holds about 30 rolls of Velvia 50, just in case I need one... bscott Posted October 9, 2006 Share #3 Posted October 9, 2006 Thanks for the update on Velvia 50. Is it going to be replaced with another film or is the new 100 going to be the replacement? Also, do you know the reason for the change?
mat_mcdermott Posted October 9, 2006 Share #4 Posted October 9, 2006 I bought some Velvia 50 a couple weeks ago at Calumet in New York, and when I was back in last weekend it looked as though they had a quite adequate supply.
wilfredo Posted October 12, 2006 Share #5 Posted October 12, 2006 This was discontinued months ago. The new 100 Velvia is supposed to be just as fine grained if not better. I've had great results with it. If you like the old stuff stock-up. It will keep in the frige just fine, even past the expiration date. masjah Posted November 4, 2006 Share #7 Posted November 4, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Don't know if this is what is being talked about, but I heard on a grapevine that a Fuji rep had told someone who told someone who...... that "In 2007 Fuji are bringing out a film which will blow digital out of the water". ANyone else heard anything like this?
andybarton Posted November 4, 2006 Share #8 Posted November 4, 2006 Interesting move if it's true, John. Are they bringing out a 2007 scanner to go with it too?
passion Posted November 4, 2006 Share #9 Posted November 4, 2006 Well, since Fuji states themselves that they plan to commercialise the Velvia II 50 (not yet the definitive name) in Japan during springtime 2007, there might some truth behind it. http://fujifilm.jp/information/20061020/index.html
wizard Posted November 6, 2006 Share #10 Posted November 6, 2006 If it is true, it would confirm my tendency to use Fuji films more than any other manufacturer's. But I am still waiting for their Provia 400X to hit the stores, and that film was announced early this year if I am not completely wrong...
