Advertisement Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 Hi sfokevin, Take a look here Hammertone M8. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Philinflash Posted November 9, 2008 Share #22 Posted November 9, 2008 The silver-on-black Leica dot bothers me; why not black on silver or all silver? Or aluminum or whatever it is supposed to be.
Guest Posted November 9, 2008 Share #23 Posted November 9, 2008 I like the black dots. BrianP
RobertW Posted November 9, 2008 Share #24 Posted November 9, 2008 I'm happy your pleased with the results. And that's what really counts, isn't it. Best Rob
wlaidlaw Posted November 9, 2008 Share #25 Posted November 9, 2008 Wilson applying a new cover is very easy. Looks like the person that did it on the HammerTone had no hand eye coordination or they broke there glasses just before taking on the job.As for my opinion on the overall look. I don't like it. Ed, Soldering irons, mechanics, lathes, Apple Mac innards and Cosworth engines are my thing. Wood, leather etc, I leave to other people. I only have to put a nail near a bit of wood and it splits. I think the camera in the first picture would look like an expert job in comparison to what I might achieve. Having finally, after some communication glitches, got my Rollei black leather M8 kit, with extra bits for the grip, I am very comfortable paying someone else £25 to apply it professionally. gwelland Posted November 10, 2008 Share #26 Posted November 10, 2008 It's an ugly enough finish on drainpipes. It looks even worse on cameras. ROFL Tough crowd. If the OP likes it then that's ALL that matters.

SJP Posted November 11, 2008 Share #29 Posted November 11, 2008 Why gray Hammertone if you can get red, orange, green, pink etc.???? see here DIY painting of beater M3 - REVISITED - Photo.net Leica and Rangefinders Forum
monza Posted November 11, 2008 Author Share #30 Posted November 11, 2008 These responses certainly are interesting. Why do pink, when you can just buy black or chrome? Heh. This camera was painted for a customer in Norway to his specifications. He loves it. No one else has to.

farnz Posted November 12, 2008 Share #40 Posted November 12, 2008 I kinda liked the water level thing but what is it's function one wonders? ... It's a spirit level, Stephen. I attach one from time to time when I'm using a tripod to confirm that the camera's level. (How long will it be before there's a tv series called "Pimp My Camera"? ) Pete.
