This originally was a black M8. It was sent to Solms for some custom engraving ("Leica" script on top plate plus owner's name.)

It's been updated with cameraleather.com Vulcanette C, and hammertone paint. The shutter speed dial, shutter button and on/off switch were swapped out with chrome parts. Lastly a black Leica dot was added.

M8 ala carte.

That would be the "what", not the "who", to be precise

Can you share where you got the camera painted? The hammertone looks like it is a lighter shade compared to the LHSA MP hammertone though.

Thanks.

I think the Cameraleather is not applied very expertly. A pity....

Hammertone recipe:

  1. Take one Leica M8
  2. Take one shotgun
  3. Aim 2 at 1
  4. Pull trigger to produce hammertone finish
  5. Repeat as desired

Pete.

Looks like it's been left out in acid rain. Hideous to my eyes. The CameraLeather kit application, confirms my decision to let Kelvin, my local camera repair genius, apply the Rollei black leather kit I have waiting for my M8, when it comes back on Wednesday.

I like that you pursue your aim to get a very personal camera. I think one should do whatever it takes to improve the "love factor" for ones equipment.

Wilson applying a new cover is very easy. Looks like the person that did it on the HammerTone had no hand eye coordination or they broke there glasses just before taking on the job.

As for my opinion on the overall look. I don't like it.
