Guest stnami Posted October 7, 2006 Share #6 Posted October 7, 2006 Hi No I did not build the web site as time is not there between setting up workshops, teaching, building a new 40 square kitchen, a dry stone wall around the veggie garden and working towards a couple of exhibitions there is a distinct lack of time I use the site mainly to play with images and it changes continually sometimes I redo the lot resurrect old images new etc.like today I will change a gallery later today 'the time givers' I should make my own site but ,well one day meanwhile I just do stuff Idris Khan a interesting way of working Idris Khan - Victoria Miro Gallery

Guest stnami Posted October 7, 2006 Share #8 Posted October 7, 2006 Vic Interesting images there, really pushes the isolationist come martyr buttons with an almost sinster overtone. The raw upfront attitude is really refreshing It is a pity that not everyone can get to see these sites as many do not have the capacity to get flash style of sites. I used to have slides music etc but don't use them, maybe I will get another site dedicated to all things flash. The workshops are hard to put together as I need a wet darkroom and a computer setup. trying to bridge the digital film gap, bit of a uphill battle as everyone wants digital and even some of the presenters prefer digital and discard the film. I keep these to a minimm due to facility difficulties. Though I got a grant to set up a new imaging course at a school over a 12 month period, frustrating to get it off the ground but that film/digital mix is the main objective. Hopefully I can rekindle the large format film stuff and expand it into digital , so we have the traditional and the new

vic vic Posted October 9, 2006 Share #18 Posted October 9, 2006 imants hi... most of the people have fash.. and if not - it can be eassily installed... it is very strandard today.... i dont like many things about flash though... too much animations that i get bored or bothered when using them.. but many flash works are very well balanced .. here a link of one example... http://ronbergphoto.com/main.html
Guest stnami Posted October 9, 2006 Share #19 Posted October 9, 2006 Sorry to rain on your flash but large sectors ot the third world audience is not so lucky VIc and thei capacity to download flash is not that great. It's OK for the educated and income earner others are not so lucky.
vic vic Posted October 10, 2006 Share #20 Posted October 10, 2006 rain on my flashes???? imants i dont even use flashes on my website :-))))))and told u - dont really like them generally talking.... :-)))) dont want to make impression of ugly person... but u know - there is a progress and there are some that join it soon and some that do it later.... this is the way it goes... and ya - i know, in vietnam for example, it is almost impossible to use internet in most places (with or without flash)... while nearby in tailand it is almost as fast as here in israel or most of european contries and usa... by the way - the newer(?) technology or what ever it is - AJAX is far better in my taste... u can do there interactive stuff and intresting behaviuors but with more rewarding look and motion... flashes not always comes with your "mind"... ajax is far more pleasing from what i saw from my friends works recently....
