stuny Posted October 3, 2006 Share #1 Posted October 3, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Rajasthan has two of the most fabulous Jain temples. Unfortunately, the more intricate of the two in Mt. Abu forbids photos, preferring to support local photographers selling pictures at the temple’s exit. Below we see an interior shot of the Jain temple in Ranakpur. I reference the Hudson River School of U.S. painters since they nearly always included a small bit of red to attract the eye. For more photos of Ranakpur please see the 4th page of India photos on our site. On the 5th page you can see some scans of the photos from the other temple – photos which we bought

jmr Posted October 3, 2006 Share #2 Posted October 3, 2006 Stuart, fascinating place, what detail! I think the first image would work well cropped to a portrait format, centred on the door, showing one column either side - there are already strong verticals present in the shot which might be further emphasised. stuny Posted October 3, 2006 Author Share #3 Posted October 3, 2006 John - Thank you. I've made a crop of #1. What do you think?
sfage Posted October 3, 2006 Share #4 Posted October 3, 2006 I like your photo... "the more intricate of the two in Mt. Abu forbids photos, preferring to support local photographers selling pictures at the temple’s exit." I can't say that I disagree with this philosophy. jmr Posted October 4, 2006 Share #5 Posted October 4, 2006 Stuart, I prefer the crop - it seems to lead the eye better into the picture. Thanks.
peterb Posted October 4, 2006 Share #6 Posted October 4, 2006 Stuart, Stunning detail. May I ask which camera and which lens? P
abrewer Posted October 4, 2006 Share #7 Posted October 4, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi Stuart. I like number one better. Also, the crop looks like it's oversharpened out here on my monitor. Just my two cents. Thanks for sharing. Allan
stuny Posted October 4, 2006 Author Share #8 Posted October 4, 2006 Shane & John - Thank you. Peter - Thank you. I think it was the D2, but it might have been the FZ-20 Allan - Thank you. You're right -- when I cropped it I sharpened some again (bad habit?), and that over did it.
ddp Posted October 5, 2006 Share #9 Posted October 5, 2006 Stuart - EXIF data indicates it was the D2
