As I got at Photokina a copy of the Digilux 3 brochure, which can be downloaded here:

http://www.leica-camera.us/assets/file/download.php?filename=file_1240.pdf

I found out on page 14 that Leica will release in 2007 a new system flash unit for the Digilux 3 which will be also compatible with the M- and R- System.

Could this be a Panasonic flash unit (as for Lumix DMC-L1 i.e. DMW -FL500/or FL360) ) or "good old" Metz's ?

hi Michael

a look at the hotshoe should tell you

match it to the LC-1 or Digilux 2

if it looks the same pin out, the following applies

Olympus FL-36 : TTL

FL-50: TTL

FL-20 : AUTO

Panasonic FL-360 : TTL

FL-500 : TTL

Leica SF 24D : TTL

SF-20 : AUTO

Metz 54MZ-3 : AUTO

44MZ-2 : AUTO

70MZ-5 : AUTO

(all Metz need the SCA 3502 adapter)

Howdy Riley, I was just wondering if Leica would release a Pana flash unit under Leica brand or from a different manufacturer.....

Cheers, Michiel

actually i dont think Leica have them, others here may know

Olympus are supposed to be cheaper than Panasonics

even tho they are the same units/ different brands

other notes

the FL-36 (and hence the FL-360) dont have a sync chord plug

and only take two AA batteries, so slower to recharge

FL-50 and FL-500 have sync chord plugs for 'off camera'

Riley

make sure you check the pin out, and see its the same !
