Hi I will wait too!

Caparobertsan! I remember you promising never to use that size of font any more! :D

Sorry: it means shouting, it is not polite, it is unnecessary!

And to all: my apologies for the fontsize in the Quote!

The old firmware took forever to format cards . What have readers been experiencing (in time) formatting w/ FW 2.0

The reason I ask , is I am having serious issues as state by other posters above . Mycards were always formatted in camera . When I format now , I get the dialogue box , select yes, press set , and with absolutely no time delay (and I have to stress no time delay) the card is proportedly formatted.

What have others experienced.

Much faster, I haven't noticed a difference in time between formatting my 2GB and 4Gb cards.

What would you estimate in seconds on a 2GB card , or is it micro-seconds??

Never timed it. By the time I hit the SET button to start the format and then move my eyes to the red light it only flashes 1 maybe 2 times then stops, format done.

With old FW it took about 5-7 seconds IIRC for a 2GB card. Never really used 1GB cards and never bought into the bastardized 4GB type so I don't know how long they may have taken.
