Guest rubidium Posted October 1, 2006 Share #1 Posted October 1, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Ever since joining this forum, I have been intrigued by Marc Dufour's images of bread and sand that seem to defy the viewer to define the scale of the image. Is it a macro shot of a loaf of bread, or a wide-angle shot of a cliff side? So in tribute of these fine shots, I present the following surreal cavernous landscape - in true color. Now to avoid a lengthy debate on what this is and what the scale is, let me simply state it here. It is a 160X image of a single saffron thread (i.e. a dried stigma of the saffron crocus) - the world's most expensive spice by weight, and in Marc's tribute, a key ingredient of of a certain fine Spanish dish. Taken with R-9 and DMR, and "other Leitz apochromatic optics and fine mechanical stuff." Cheers, Jim
