ddp Posted September 28, 2006 Share #1 Posted September 28, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) I photographed Lisa in the early spring - she usually models for car / trade shows on the import tuner scene. Think Subaru / Mazda and performance modifications. I shot her in color & B&W - B&W was film. I wanted to go for a different look than her usual shoots. MP, 90 APO ASPH & Noct - light source was an Arri 150 W for the first, window light with the Noct

stevem7 Posted September 28, 2006 Share #5 Posted September 28, 2006 I like them all. Well done! Great tones..
vic vic Posted September 28, 2006 Share #6 Posted September 28, 2006 dan... try to give the tones some substance... it is simply empty (not empty as if minimalistic)... if u want to give some luminosity than remember that the visual/mental feeling of luminocity depends not only on the brighness of the image but also to the relation of tonalities in the image.... also.... if u want to make different kind of photo (than she is used to) than try to make her speack in the photos :-)
comapedrosa Posted September 29, 2006 Share #7 Posted September 29, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) #1 has movent. I don't even know what you did (camera tilt?), but it works.
ddp Posted September 29, 2006 Author Share #8 Posted September 29, 2006 Thanks all for your comments. Victor - I'm not exactly sure what you mean regarding the luminosity - do you feel the images lack depth & texture? As far as her normal types of photo shoots - it is usually posing for calendars besides cars & motorcycles...thanks for the feedback!
albertwang Posted September 29, 2006 Share #9 Posted September 29, 2006 Slightly too granular in her hair tones... just noted that. I think that shooting a little closer wide open would separate the background slightly better. First picture- facial expression a little too overly surprised. Seriously that zombie look isn't too attractive and is somewhat cliched. Third picture- best one of all... muted with understated. Higher contrast slightly would be helpful. Interesting gal. Not my bunches but maybe wettyknickers on the bobble instead?
vic vic Posted September 29, 2006 Share #10 Posted September 29, 2006 hi dan... ya man... it lacks the depth... texture too - but im less concerned about texture at the moment. tonal depth is more important here. in image one... a better use of ligting (it is artificial as i see) would give better results. it is almost like from top camera flashed image now. about posing - ya... try to let her express something - some other body and face languege - cause now it looks the same as she is used to but without the cars and bikes :-))))
jackart Posted September 29, 2006 Share #11 Posted September 29, 2006 Gentle, hi-key-like, I like it~! -Jaak
ddp Posted September 29, 2006 Author Share #12 Posted September 29, 2006 Victor - the first image was done with an Arri hotlight, either 300 or 150 W. The look is closer to a ringlight actually, but it came out better than I expected. This was experimentation on my part using the Arri lights and B&W film. Thanks all for looking... zanydave Posted September 29, 2006 Share #13 Posted September 29, 2006 I like #3 The fact that you can see right up her nose in #1 is very unflattering. Dave
JHAG Posted September 29, 2006 Share #14 Posted September 29, 2006 I'm with zanidave N° 3 has mystery — which 1 and 2 totally lack of.
