stuny Posted September 27, 2006 Share #1 Posted September 27, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) While in the security line at the Atlanta airport this afternoon I noticed a case with some sample objects not allowed on commercial aircraft. Not my best photo, but I ask you, who would bring a chainsaw on board?

imported_peter_m Posted September 27, 2006 Share #2 Posted September 27, 2006 How about some old rancher that is just as worried about his chainsaw in the hold as we are with a expensive camera kit Peter
cbretteville Posted September 27, 2006 Share #3 Posted September 27, 2006 Chainsaw, required tool to cut up rolls served on long haul flight, doesn't everyone bring one???? - C
andybarton Posted September 27, 2006 Share #4 Posted September 27, 2006 There's something wrong with that queue. There's only 4 people in it 45 minutes to an hour wait for security at Heathrow even for an internal flight is par for the course at the moment, apparently. Why anyone flies to Heathrow from Manchester anymore, beats me. It would be quicker to drive. First Class on the trains are now 50% of the carriages and are generally 90% full. The airlines must be really hurting.
stuny Posted September 27, 2006 Author Share #5 Posted September 27, 2006 Andy - You're fooled by the angle. The security line was a mix of Heathrow and Disneyworld. Like the former because of the size of the crowds & the slowness of progress. Like the latter because with all the turns the actual length of the lines was hidden. There were well over 1000 people in about 10 feeder lines that merged into two feeder lines, that split into eight x-ray lines. There were many more x-ray lines not open -- this must have been a realtively off hour at that airport.
squanmis Posted September 27, 2006 Share #6 Posted September 27, 2006 What always amazes me is the stuff that people try to bring on aircraft and the numbest reasons why they need to have it with them. Thanks for sharing. John
Michael-IIIf Posted September 28, 2006 Share #7 Posted September 28, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) What a laugh Stuart. Long lines at security are all to do with resources, and nothing to do with levels of security threat. I had a nightmare three hour check-in at Stansted - or perhaps it should be called StandingInLineSted - and a few days later from Oslo it was a pleasure to see all eight security channels open in an airport which is serving a population of only 500,000. Needless to say there was no queue whatsoever and the security check was very thorough and professional.
