  1. 1. Should we adopt a new "Automobiles" subsection of the Photo Forum?

    • Yes, cars deserve their own subsection

allan hi....

i know u moderators have this tendency and reasoning behind making more sections and subsections on the forum....

but honestly - it is a bit annoying (at least for me).

i get a sneack into the forum... wanna see this and that and those jumps from sections subsections are simply anoing :-))) so many time i just give up to see something this time (may be later)....

it works pretty good as it is now in my opinion.

and allan, and others like andy... if u have more shots with the lotus cars (new cars, old cars) please post it - im really getting exited :-)))))))))

Personally, I'd get rid of all the categories. Why do we need to say what cubbyhole our photos fit into? All this does is compartmentalize our thinking. A picture is a picture is a picture.

LOL!

:D

Well, that's kind of beyond the scope of the proposal under consideration here, Brent...but I'll take it to Andreas and see what he says! If he starts muttering about "damned Madison liberal anarchists" I guess we'll have an answer!

Thanks.

Allan

IMO the reason for this poll are meanwhile long forgotten bulk postings of car trader like pix in S&L; meanwhile the traffic has boiled down to a manageable level.

Personally, I like looking into the S&L section. I look who posted, then I move on.

I would be totally flattered.

Seriously, though, check out the Shutterfreaks forum (ShutterFreaks™ - Viewing a list of posts) They have no categories in the "Share Your Photos" column, but you can generally tell from the titles what the photos are going to be. One of the problems with putting our photos into categories is that some work never gets seen. I think by the time a lot of viewers get through the first three or four categories, they get saturated and never get into the "Other," threads. Or, thinking they aren't interested in certain subject matter, people might just completely ignore entire areas. Not categorizing the photos would lead to a lot more images being seen, in my opinion.

Dear all,

sorry - 1% of members and such a close result are not really representative.

But beside renaming the sports forum I have another new feature that could help: Tags.

I indexed the forum last night and amongst the 50 top results where "cars" and - surprise - "ogp". Take a look:

Regards

Andreas
