The camera above looks like a fake to me, anyone else?

The details are too 'rounded' and it's obviously been made to look worn/old. The script on the lens cap is also wrong.

cap Leica lens is another more modern, which I put, is not that Leica, this was without cover.and the Leica camera is 100% original, how many cameras was made in chrome, who know here?"nobody told me",or "nobody knows",like the title lennon&maccartney songs.

What's the serial number of this camera?

According to my Leica book there were no chrome cameras but there we some gold plated 'Luxus' ones.

The camera above looks like it has some sort of gold finish to it, but also looks like someone has been at it with coarse sandpaper. It still doesn't look 'right' to my eye, the wear isn't consistent with typical use, rather that its been made to look worn.

the serial number on the camera is 4883, it is written, with a head, hand-side inside the cap mechanism speeds.

Serial number would date it as 1926/7, however the gold Luxus models were in the range 28692-68834 '29-'31.

Here's some images of a genuine Luxus - I am pretty certain, as much as one can be from a photograph that you have a Russian fake.

If you look at the shutter speed dial and compare the set-screw with the one on the Luxus, the difference between Leitz quality and Russian engineering is obvious. The Leica "feel" is not merely a mystical quality that encourages losers like me to occasionally pick up my M3 and look closely and go... "wow" (even when comparing it to my F2), but also, everything has that close tolerance engineering as though it were a scientific instrument.. which it is.

exactly who manufactured the first chamber, luxus 28692, can not be, is false, and had seen those photographs, besides my camera is not a copy luxus, chrome, and what you see is golden bronze, beneath the chrome, and looks w this at the base of my camera.

Bill, this should have a fixed lens, no rangefinder hence no cam.

I stand by what I say, though. Everything about it is just a bit crude, the finish, the engraving, the screw threads, and the finish is just wrong.

Durrr...!

Good point, James!

Regards,

Bill
