Dunno, literal versus mystery... It's what you look for in images. I genuinely think that's subjective and up to the viewer and I'd never seek to influence.

When digital effects arrived in the TV industry in the 1980s, our mentors taught us, just because it's possible doesn't mean you have to do it.

That probably makes me more tolerant of my faults as a photographer! But also open to images that don't tick all the digital boxes.

reason #61 Great ergonomics allow fast and precise rotation of speed wheel with a finger, thus one can shoot HDR pictures handheld.

Apolgies in advance for hijacking the idea but I think an M7 can help to hilight the M8's strengths and differences.

This is not the m8 at all, but it's the same lens. Can we take a 5 minute break to remember how it looks on film?

In the first picture, an old Soviet submarine commander is recalling stories at his dacha in the total darkness. Lens is the Noctilux.

In the second picture, friends constructed a chess set out of paper and are lost in concentration. Noctilux.

The M8 would capture both scenes but in a very different way.

Regards,

Mark

(No numbers as these are not M8 pictures)

You'll find us a pretty tolerant bunch-many of us still own and use film Leicas - so welcome to this thread and the new age of photography. :)

Thanks for your words, Jaap,

I think we are lucky that the M8 and film Ms are interchangeable. That certainly encourages me to switch back and forth between film and digital. Another advantage of the system.

So I claim point No. 62 :-)

Anyone else feel we've scraped through the bottom of the barrel?

Anyone else feel we've scraped through the bottom of the barrel?

#68 - The barrel's still half full for me...

Because it lets me use a 180 mm equivalent FOV lens in a package that weighs a quarter of the equivalent DSLR kit (135 Apo-Telyt f3.5)
