135 Elmarit coding

Hi,

I got a nice Elmarit 135 today. So far I like it very much.

I coded it according to the info from Tim and get a reading for the 90 mm lens. Would that be normal? Does the system only take the bayonet info into account and not the code which is for a 135?

Regards

Volker

I'm not sure what you mean by "getting a reading for the 90mm lens."

The 135/2.8 keys the 90mm frame on all cameras. The goggles have 1.5x magnification, increasing the effective measuring base length of the rangefinder to handle a lens of that speed and length.

So if I understand right, your lens is working correctly mechanically.

The EXIF data should show that you're using a 135/2.8.

It seems that the camera takes the position of the frame selector into consideration, along with the coding. But coding does not do anything at all for 135mm lenses. There is not much vignetting to compensate for. Just keep the camera going on Lens detection ON/IR-UV and all is well.
