:D Hello, I have got info. from trusting source about new FW upgrade which will be available in July.

I think this is a great news for M8 user and ( I will become on in 2 days!!!!!!!!!!!).

So I will not collect any more 4gb SD card.

I don`t have details about it. I do`nt know if it will support 16GB sdhc. But even 4gb SDHC will be good enough.

I'll be happy to see this true :). As Mark said, time for endless threads: My LCD started flickering when I use a Sandisk SDHC 16Mb I bought from Thailand on the Internet and now my camera crashed. Leica is going down! etc. :D

I am sorry but I can not tell you where I heard it from because I do`nt want this person to get in to trouble. ANd info. is absolutely true.

But if Leica is confident with their new FW they can announce it over their site, but it is not. So I think they are still testing it with various SDHC card. And they will again release the list of sdhc card which is compatible with M8.

I think We can just wait for them to release it. I do`nt want push them to release ASAP. If my source is right it will come out in July. But it is Leica. It is never on time so- August-September?

I will get cheapy 2gb sd cards for now. THEY ARE SO CHEAP!!!

I wonder if they're related to that lot in Nigeria who promised to send you the $1000 D3 any day...three weeks ago... :D

No relation to those Nigerians. SDHC support is definitely coming I am positive about this info. BUT I don`t know the details.... He told me 4gb SDHC so I wonder if they includes 8gb or 16/32gb SDHC.

*They should have chosen CF card though...... Influenced by Panasonic??? Even battery shape is similar to those Lumix camera.

Does the SDHC media in general have faster write/read times?

If not, I'm happy with my 4 Gig Transcend cards.

For some reason my Transcend 133x is much faster than the 150x  . I can shoot 11 pictures in succession before the buffer is full shooting RAW. For the 133x it takes about 35 sec or so to clear after the last shot. My 150x takes about 50 seconds before the red light stops flashing.

That said, I don't ever take 11 shots in succession with the M8, I was only curious how many shots I could squeeze in before the buffer is full. If I want to take some continuous shooting I'll go with my DSLR.

Robert, thanks for that info. I'll look into some 133x cards.

The big question with the HD cards is will they clear the buffer faster? I'm seeing 50 seconds to clear the bugger with both Ridata 150x 4gb and Sandisk Extreme II cards. That's s5 seconds wait when it's full.

A 35-second clear time is quite a bit better. Let's see what the HC cards will bring.

I would like to know if it is possible to have a better noise treatment for RAW files. It is only guessing but, maybe they can profile the noise pattern for different ISO values (and exposure times) and substract that pattern to the basic RAW data. The last firmware update of the DMR had better noise performance, isn't?

There are different sources of noise, so I suppose there are several superimposed patterns. But maybe you are right, and some "on-the-fly" image analysis and profiling is necessary. In such a case, the M8's processor could be unable to do the job.
