My note was not in any way meant to be critical -- I'm just so confused (and at the same time, intensely interested) that I don't know which end is up. There are some things about these photos that have me completely mystified (and you've mentioned a few of them, as have I.) On the other hand...I would be equally mystified if the photos turn out to be not real. Could the Little Internet Photoshop Weasels (LIPWs) be that good? Man, I wish Friday were here. Somebody else mentioned the apparent lack of a certain feature as a deal-breaker for him. I haven't seen any deal-breakers yet, at least for me. I've been using an R-D1 a lot, and I *really* want the extra pixels and the high ISO. I thinking...we could have the camera itself in little more than a month...and probably in a month and a week, I'll have broken off that little protrubance above the left side "door." There are things in these shots like functions and controls that are not there and they should be. i understand the simplistic approach of Leica since i own 2 whole DMR setups but even as simply as the DMR is the M should be carrying some of the same features and i don't see them. At this point i want leica to tell me what it is . i heard from many reliable sources along the way on certain things but controls was not one of them , so i am eagerly awaiting the design of this. Right now as i see it it maybe a deal breaker. I am not going to give up 1 DMR for this if it does not make sense. Also, look out for "3 months in Solms for a new plastic door", or "150 euros for a plastic catch!!" But I still reckon the photos we have seen are fake. Just cycle "SET" thru the choices (ISO, COMP etc) and spin the wheel for the selection. I think this may satisfy those concerned (like me) with deep menu ISO changes. jrc Posted September 12, 2006 Share #169 Posted September 12, 2006 If the chassis above is correct, it would appear that the battery must be mounted vertically, probably under your right hand as you shoot the camera. I say this because there appears to be stuff in the bottom of the chassis that would interfer with a battery. If the battery is mounted vertically, it would have to be similar in size to the battery in the R-D1, which has good, but not great, shooting life. I'd say you'd need one or maybe two extras for a solid day's shooting outside, especially in cooler weather. That little door...you don't suppose you can shoot this thing tethered, do you? Wonder why the chassis shot doesn't show the carrying strap lug -- would that be bolted on, rather than molded in? I've never actually tried to take apart my M7 to see how the lugs are mounted... I don't consider reading or memorizing what arrow to press to get one of the 4 functions and then having to click several times to set it to be a convenient or fast GUI. Man, all they had to do was include the key manual controls... it's so obvious. That's why people get an M. What a paradox it would be to have nice manual controls for aperture and speed, but to have to go navigate in the menus for ISO or EV comp!!! Even having to look at a screen (be it the one in the back or one on top) to read thoses settings would be such a disappointment. :confused: Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

It does not look like i put it on white seamless and took a picture of it. There is not a spec of dust ,which really makes it look unreal and i never saw a photo of a body look that plastic. Looks more like a illustration than a photo and that is really what is bugging me about it and the edges are to sharp When my dealer asked "which version of the camera do you want?" The lines are too sharp and the shadows would never be like that sitting on a white surface unless it was suspended in the air. Plus they are crossed shadowed and cut off on the left side. I now completely buy the photos. Also, if you look at the video, you'll see that the "button" on the back bottom right, by the selection wheel, is actually a red LED, and it's blinking -- I suspect it's a warning that there is no card loaded.
