jlancasterd Posted February 19, 2008 Share #1 Posted February 19, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) We've had lovely weather in North Wales for the past 10 days - cold but sunny. On Sunday I spent several hours on the piece of the Welsh Highland Railway that we've already reopened... elansprint72 Posted February 19, 2008 Share #5 Posted February 19, 2008 John, Good set, look forward to the Lord Barton's XI trip over the full route.
eckart Posted February 20, 2008 Share #6 Posted February 20, 2008 I like the first one most, because the driver in the steam looks like an old BW-photo and around the steam there is the coloured landscape, so it looks really like a arriving time-machine. Cheers, Eckart

jlancasterd Posted February 20, 2008 Author Share #9 Posted February 20, 2008 JohnWell done and nice series especially the first in the stream Where is it ? The first two were taken at the Welsh Highland Railway station in Caernarfon, which is on the Menai Strait, in North Wales. The Strait runs between Ynys Mon (Anglesey) and the North Wales mainland. The line is currently 12 miles long, ending at Rhyd Ddu (photo 3) on the lower southern slopes of Snowdon. Come Easter 2009 we will be opening a further 13 miles, taking the line down through Beddgelert and the Aberglaslyn Pass to Porthmadog, where it will join up with the Ffestiniog Railway and create a 40-mile 2-foot gauge line through the Snowdonia National Park.
