I love this thread! R cameras rule. I've a lovely M3 c/w 50 dr. But I have 8 R8s ,R7,R4 ,R-E two Leicaflex standards and four SLs. Not bragging but I really enjoy using them more than any other camera. I was thinking of building on my Fuji Xpro system  then I thought better of it. I will consider to use my R cameras. The only problem I have  with older Rs is the way they roll the film on makes it difficult to load the developing tank.

I'm surprised they're still doing CLA on these older cameras, but I shouldn't be.  My (now getting old) R9 had one about five years ago when I actually had a problem with it.  I'm glad I had that work done to it at the time since they were still able to repair R9s.  I don't think they would be able to do the same work with it today.

Not the Summicron ?

DAG would complete it with the missing red mounting indicator 😉

It's been a half year of joy now since it found it's way to me.

I had to sell my M kit in 2016 because I couldn't see the focusing patch well enough any more to achieve critical focus.  Fortunately, I've found that with the focusing aids in SLRs, I can still focus THEM.  I've been puttering around with Nikon since then... but THIS is in the FedEx system right now, with delivery set for tomorrow (allegedly and hopefully.)   I'm excited to be able to shoot Leica again!

My R8, added a drive for grip comfort.  Looks like a clunky box but feels good in the hand!
