Advertisement Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 Hi mhoutman, Take a look here M8: SD card type (speed). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
pascal_meheut Posted September 3, 2006 Share #2 Posted September 3, 2006 Wait till it is out but in the meantime, avoid the Ultra II: in the DMR, it is slower than 150x card like the Transcend 2Gb for instance.
Trevor Hare Posted September 3, 2006 Share #3 Posted September 3, 2006 Given that the Leica is hardly the sort of machine that is going to be used for sports/action or rapid multi frame shooting then does it really matter? I think the basic 'cooking' variety of card will be fine.
pascal_meheut Posted September 3, 2006 Share #4 Posted September 3, 2006 Once again, one cannot predict how the M8 will be. However, it matters on the DMR: because one does not want to wait 2 min before zooming when reviewing, because sometimes the 8 or so raw pictures are not that much and the faster the buffer is flushed to the card, the faster one can take another shot. Trevor Hare Posted September 3, 2006 Share #5 Posted September 3, 2006 Anyway, I am sure potential buyers are not going to begrudge the few extra dollars for a faster card (whether it is necessary or not) and will probably buy an Extreme III/IV or equivalent without a second thought. Frankly, if someone lays out £3000 on a camera and then quibbles about a measly few quid for a card, I'll just have a good laugh. With luck, maybe Galbraith will add the M8 to his database. No guarantee of course, the DMR isn't featured.
sreidvt Posted September 3, 2006 Share #7 Posted September 3, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) I use the Sandisk Ultra II SD cards for all kinds of cameras. So far, they've been fast and reliable. Knock wood. Cheers, Sean http://www.reidreviews.com
