geoffc60 Posted December 2 Share #1 Posted December 2 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just had the dreaded 'System Error' warning on rear of my SL2-S. I've updated the firmware, swapped out memory cards and reformatted them and done a complete reset and everything now seems ok. I had previously read that the warning could have something to do with the mechanical shutter however that seems to be fine. Any ideas what could have caused the issue? I got a system error warning on my SL2 when inserting a wrong formatted SD card. I'm not worried in this moment as i expect that the SD card was the culprit. Chris System error has nothing to do with sd card. it certainly will come back to haunt you again
PhotoCruiser Posted December 3 Share #5 Posted December 3 (edited) 😱 Camera is still under warranty for about 6 weeks, so i should handle this before warranty is due. If not anything with the SD card, what leads to to the System Error message on a SL2? it never happened before and i was not taking photos, so no shutter movement, i was updating the Sigma lenses i have. Chris The system error message on SL2 was a well-known issue. It's because of a faulty mechanic shutter. I suggest you send it in as early as possible.

Leica can read out the log.

Thanks Jaapv I leave in a week back to Zurich and first thing there is to visit the Leica Store to have the sensor cleaned and to discuss the System Error. It happened only once and as i wrote when uploading the Sigma Firmware to my lenses and was writing the upload files from my MacBook to the SD card. and not when taking photos what makes the shutter on first sight as unlikely. However, i will see what Leica Store suggests and proceed with their suggestion, either sending the camera to Leica or just sending Leica a notice that the Error ocured in case it will happen again and again.
