The Elmarit 21/2.8 protrudes less into the body than the Super-Angulon 21/3.4 so it should fit at least as well as the later which is compatible with the M5 but i have no experience with the M5 sorry.

Any M lens is compatible. What makes you believe that this might not be the case?

The back end of the lens can interfere with the light meter arm, that was the reason I was asking.

The Elmarit M was released after the M5. It is compatible, unlike the f:4.0 21 Super-Angulon. The 3.4 Super-Angulon is compatible if built in 1971 or later (some earlier lenses may have been modified to fit).
