caimi Posted 8 hours ago Share #1  Posted 8 hours ago (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I just bought a used M5. Looks nearly new and operates without a flaw. I ran a roll of Cinestill400 through it and, out of 36 exposures, got 3 consecutive images with the same small light leak tattoo and 5 consecutive images with a faint horizontal line .  Could be a light leak. Could be a film can leak. Could be both. Who knows? All was fixable in Lightroom. All of the images, including the ones with the flaws, were beautiful as expected. So it got me thinking: What would I choose, if I had the choice, between a M5 with a possible light leak for under $2k or a MEV1 that is perfect (except for the absence of rangefinder focusing) for $9K? jaapv Posted 8 hours ago Share #2  Posted 8 hours ago Errr..?? Shouldn't you choose between film and digital first?  There is a difference, you know. Your choice is not apples and oranges, it is cherries and coconuts...
Derbyshire Man Posted 3 hours ago Share #3 Â Posted 3 hours ago There's a whole lot in between like second hand digitals with rangefinders. A camera with a light leak which scratches films would be straight back out of my door. If I have film cameras it's so that I can do trad darkroom prints. Scanning drove me nuts compared with digital.
