Off to Cyprus for a week, trying to decide which camera to take, only want to take one.

Q343 or SL2S with 28-70mm lens.

Thoughts appreciated, I mostly shoot landscape but often find myself photographing anything that looks interesting?

24-70 is for me one of the optimal FL range lenses for one-lens, easy peasy travel. 28-70 comes very close.

Pick a coin.

Choose 'head" for one, 'tail' for the other.

Flip the coin.

If the result makes you happy, got for that choice. If the result makes you not so happy, pick the other one.

Pack your travel bags and enjoy your trip.

The last line tells you what you need to take, in many ways you've answered your own question.

I’m on holiday right now. The SL2S with 28-70 never leaves my side. Ideal combo for travel for me. Light enough to carry all day, versatile enough to handle virtually any holiday situation. 24 SX M in a small bumbag, CL and 70-200 for specialized stuff mostly in the hotel. I would feel severely handicapped by a 43 mm camera. What about the narrow streets on Cyprus and the littjecOuzo bars for instance. That screams for an 18, 21 or maybe 24. Take a Summilux M. 21.

I'm planning for my next trip to Paris. This time I'm taking my QP and an SL2-S with one or two lenses (probably M and R glass) - but each day I'm just taking one body - either the QP or SL2-S. It will depend on where I'm going each day. I think this will work best for me on this particular trip. I never carry a camera bag (weather doesn't matter) no bags. Just one body - one lens - for each day. A couple of extra cards and batteries in my pockets. Travel light, keep it simple. Maybe this plan could work for you too?

I find carrying my SL2-S with 24-70 all day unbearable because it is very heavy. At almost 2kg, the combo weighs as much as three (3!) Q3.

Well , each to his own, but I am just back from three weeks through the UK. I found the SL2S with 28-70 (1525 grams) no hardship at all. My winter coat is heavier. But then, a diagonal strap makes it easy.

Weight will always be a problem if you choose for Leica. I have R, M, SL cameras all are heavy, very much so with lenses. We went to the Alsace this autumn, I was carrying an SL2 with Vario Elmarit 24-90 and sometimes also with a Sigma 1.2. We made walks up and down hill of 8-10 kilometers. And no, I am not a young person doing weights😅. Like Jaap said: a good carrying case and a (hand)strap makes things bearable...

If you need to choose, it may not be a technical or unique function of the camera but which camera you have the best fun with. It could be that the look of the camera is a factor or some aspect (doesn't matter which) you enjoy about the camera more than the other. Unless that is, your decision is about technical abilities or focal length etc.

Your Profile tells me that you already use a Q2
In that case I would go for the SL with any light soon.
