I'm the opposite, if it's similar to the classic M6 with just brass instead of zinc alloy I'm thinking I want 1 over the MP. I'm not a fan of the brassing look and was thinking of getting the chrome MP over the new M6.

Seeing a brand-new M6 reissue can be fooling.

At first glance and feel, it appears to be very similar to Leica black chrome cameras (like an original black M6 or a black chrome M-A) and not at all like a traditional black paint Leica, be it a Leicaflex SL, M4, or MP.

But as the new M6 ages, the black coating (whatever you want to call it) starts to get polished and shiny and becomes more like black paint. Before long it starts to brass as well, very similar to traditional black paint cameras and not at all like black chrome cameras, which fade and then show the "silver" underneath (only after decades will you get to the brass). 

I've had my M6 for 2.5 years and it's started to brass in multiple spots, which I love.

I'm earmarked to drive the motorway to go see one in the flesh on Monday. I suppose my main beef is the local agency and dealers calling it black paint, the official Leica site (leica.com) calling it "highly scratch resistant lacquer, and my Leica BIG Pocket Book suggesting black chromed brass.

It's a fair chunk of cash though................ But the saying comes back to haunt me, "fly first-class, or your children will".

I like that!

I wanted to get myself a current model film Leica M and hang onto it, and pass it on to my kids when the time comes. 
 

I have 2 kids, and both are starting to show a keen interest in photography. I guess I need two film leicas, so I can fly first class now and they can later 🤣
