Advertisement Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Hi telewatt, Take a look here if you could only have 3 lenses..... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Meschugge Posted January 10, 2008 Share #22 Posted January 10, 2008 50/1.4 ASPH 35/1.4 ASPH 28/2 ASPH (currently owning only a 50 'cron, but that's the combo I sooner or later would love to have)
carstenw Posted January 10, 2008 Share #23 Posted January 10, 2008 For FF or the M8? I presume the M8. So: WATE, 35 Lux Asph, 75 Lux. Probably. The 50 Lux Asph is probably my favorite lens, but on the M8 it is awkward. For the FF M9, I would choose: 28 Cron Asph, 50 Lux Asph, 90 Cron Asph or maybe trade the 28 Cron Asph for the 24 Elmarit Asph.
usayit Posted January 10, 2008 Share #24 Posted January 10, 2008 I couldn't pick just 3... but I did go on an extended trip with these two and was happy. Tri-elmar Original Noctilux
Fotomiguel Posted January 10, 2008 Share #25 Posted January 10, 2008 I would have 24mm f2.8, 50mm f1,4 and 75 cron I have 28mm f2.8, 50cron and 75cron and very happy as well. Cheers
Paul Hart Posted January 10, 2008 Share #26 Posted January 10, 2008 Noctilux, 35mm 'cron pre-ASHP version IV, and 24mm Elmarit After having tried a number of other lenses as well, these will remain my core group for a long time to come. Regards, Tony C. I agree. I'd also sneak in the 75 Summicron, which is an amazing lens.
luigi bertolotti Posted January 10, 2008 Share #27 Posted January 10, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) IF I ought to have 3 lenses only for M8 .... WATE, Lux 35 ASPH, Summicron 75... and I haven't any of them IF I ought to keep only 3 of the lenses I have Elmarit 21 Asph, Summilux 35 pre-asph, Summarit 75... but do not throw away the others... tbarker13 Posted January 11, 2008 Share #28 Posted January 11, 2008 Just 3? 28/2.8 hexanon 35/2 UC hexanon 75 summilux 15 CV (so small it really doesn't count)
Jack MacDonough Posted January 11, 2008 Share #29 Posted January 11, 2008 Three lenses? WATE, 35mm Lux, 75mm 2.5 This would be my travel set. Yeah I'd love everything to be 1.0 or 1.4 but the size and weight aren't worth it even if a fast WATE were made. All this lusting for the 75 lux by others concerns me. It is very heavy, and very difficult to focus at f1.4. Now with 1.3x the equivalent that's a 97.5mm, even harder to focus with a rangefinder of small base. xrogers Posted January 11, 2008 Share #30 Posted January 11, 2008 The best (at least most versatile) three lens M8 setup I've carried (so far) is: 21 ASPH 35 Lux ASPH 90 AA I often go with two lenses (leave the 90 at home), and other times go with just the 35. Printmaker Posted January 11, 2008 Share #31 Posted January 11, 2008 I use the 21 ZM, 35 cron IV, and 90 Elmarit M as my 3 lens outfit. It does everything I need it to... but I can see using a 28 cron with a 50 lux in my pocket as a nice walk-about alternative. Tom
Daniel Ortego Posted January 11, 2008 Share #32 Posted January 11, 2008 "Didn't we go through this a while ago? There was the one-lens thread, then the two-lens thread, and finally the inevitable three-lens thread..." Ah what the hell, threads like this one are fun. smsmd Posted January 11, 2008 Share #35 Posted January 11, 2008 WATE 50/1.0 90/4 (which also lets in macro kit for minimal extra weight/space) Thanks, steve
Jack_Flesher Posted January 11, 2008 Share #36 Posted January 11, 2008 21 Elm asph, 28 Cron asph and 50 Lux pre-asph -- and before somebody asks, the 90 Summarit and CV12 to round out the extremes if/when wanted. And I got em all already
usccharles Posted January 11, 2008 Share #37 Posted January 11, 2008 35/1.4 Asph, 50 Noct, 75 lux Classic combo for film bodies, which work greart for M8 as well. 28/2.0 A would be the 4th lens, to give the M8 a bit more of a mid-wide amngle option. M my thoughts exactly, although i would be happy with a 28/2.8 instead of the 2.0. small size is really a plus for that lens
TEBnewyork Posted January 11, 2008 Share #38 Posted January 11, 2008 21 Elm asph, 28 Cron asph and 50 Lux pre-asph -- and before somebody asks, the 90 Summarit and CV12 to round out the extremes if/when wanted. adan Posted January 11, 2008 Share #39 Posted January 11, 2008 Tough - I actually have 7 and use them all. But if I really could only take 3: M8: 15mm C/V, 28 Summicron, 90 TE(thin) f/2.8 24 x 36: 21 Elmarit PreASPH, 35 'cron PreASPH (would have to buy one), 90TE(thin) On the sidelines for special uses: 50 'cron, 90 'cron preASPH, 135 f/4 TE
terencechong Posted January 11, 2008 Share #40 Posted January 11, 2008 21 asph, 35 cron asph, 50 lux asph
