krillnasty Posted July 20 Share #1  Posted July 20 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi all. Thanks in advance for helping me. I currently have an MP with a 35mm Ultron f2. I love it. However, I shoot low light combat sports photography professionally, and take shots with the MP to complement my Canon R5 set up. I also have a Q3 43 that has become my every day/travel digital camera, as the last thing I want to do is drag around my mirrorless set up. My question - I love the 43mm focal length of the Q3 43. I also love the 35mm of the Ultron. However, I am falling in love with images I am seeing from the 1.4 50mm Summilux, and debating adding it as a second lens for my MP. The extra light could be helpful for sports photography, however I am slightly concerned about focusing being harder, and if the rangefinder lines are that much harder to use vs the 35mm. I also have some international travel coming up and will bring the MP/Q3 43 combo. Is it silly to want a 50mm lens for film when I already have the 43mm digital? I also once had a Q2M and didn’t love the 28mm focal length so expanding my kit to be wider doesn’t suit my style. Thanks so much.
Advertisement Posted July 20 Posted July 20 Hi krillnasty, Take a look here Building out MP kit with 50 Summilux when I already have a Q3 43. GAS or worth considering?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Don Flynn Posted July 20 Share #2  Posted July 20 (edited) I would say if you want the 50mm Summilux I would get it. If you plan on traveling "light" a nice 50mm could come in handy and remember the old adage, if you ain't got it you'll end up needing it. Are you happy with the Ultron? If so I would look at a Voigtlander 50mm to save a few bucks, but still get a quality optic.   Edited July 20 by Don Flynn
spydrxx Posted July 20 Share #3 Â Posted July 20 It seems like a worthwhile purchase...if you can get a good price, or maybe a used one. If $ is an issue consider some of the lesser priced alternatives...even the much older Canon 50/1.4 LTM with an LTM->M adapter.
