Solid gray bars at top and bottom of reviewed image - SL2-S

I just upgraded to firmware 6.2.0 and when I review an image in the viewfinder there are solid gray bars at the top and bottom even though I have all info turned off during review. The main LCD is fine during playback, no bars. There was no mention of this in the firmware notes. 

Can anyone else confirm?

I just played around and what I see is that the grey bars take up space outside the 3:2 photo. If you compose a photo, take the photo and hit play without moving away from the viewfinder you’ll see the grey bars appear outside the frame, not over it. So the viewfinder must be taller than the 3:2 sensor. Also if you look closely you can black bars in the same spots while you are framing your photo. Half press and info is displayed in that black area.

Thanks for confirming that you can see the gray bars too. I’ve never noticed them before and I was certain that they weren’t there before the firmware update. I also shoot Nikon mirrorless, and those cameras don’t add bars to the in-finder image review so I may just be getting the brands confused.

You are wrong. It’s always there. It has nothing to do with firmware upgrade

You said you were certain they were not there before the upgrade. If that’s not assertion I don’t know what it is. Maybe it’s my English

I think “being certain” of something doesn’t necessarily mean someone is digging their heels in and betting the farm on it.  I’ve been certain I locked my front door to later find it unlocked. Personally, I didn't explicitly remember grey bars either but that’s why people ask questions here. After comparison, the shade of grey is completely different on my SL2-s vs SL3-s, so perhaps something changed in that regard and that’s what was noticed. Either way, I think we got to the bottom of it.

It’s just one of those things that you “swear” you didn’t notice before. I did have some doubt in my “certainty” and that’s why I asked in my initial post if anyone could confirm. I appreciate the reply.
