I have an iPhone 16 Pro Max, and I got an iPhone 16e for testing yesterday. The Leica Lux app doesn't show Aperture mode on the 16e. I presume that it gets its depth mapping from multiple cameras, and since the 16e only has a single camera, it can't work correctly. This said, the iPhone 16e can shoot Apple's portrait mode, so perhaps the app just needs to be updated.

This is my understanding. No iPhone app can modify the physical aperture of the iPhone’s lens. This is hardware set. Some apps like ProCamera and Leica Lux offer depth editing features for dual-lens iPhones that can simulate aperture effects by adjusting the depth-of-field after taking a shot. However, this is a software-based effect that works with portrait mode photos on compatible dual-lens iPhones, not a true aperture adjustment. It is not just the Leica Lux app. The only app I have heard of that might offer depth editing on a 16e is Halide.
