paulscr Posted November 29 Share #1 Posted November 29 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello all. Just bought a used nocti 1.2 (been after one for a while and got a great price) Spotted a couple of things that im asking for your collective wisdom on: 1. There’s a bit of ‘loose’ play with the aperture ring and doesn’t click in place as prominently as my other lenses - means I can get about half a mm of play looking at the aperture blades. Worth getting CLAd? Or live with it? 2. took a couple of shots this morning - noticed some blue fringing around outline of these white letters - normal with this lens ? Welcome, dear visitor! lct Posted November 29 Share #2 Posted November 29 I hate color fringing, so I wouldn't keep such a lens, but I have no experience with it, so I'll let others give more relevant advice.
LeicaR10 Posted November 29 Share #3 Posted November 29 Paulscr, The 50 Noctilux 1.2 is noted for its character in rendering wide open. Fringing does occur and can be corrected in post processing if you wish, or shoot only in B&W and its no longer an issue (cheeky humor). The aperture ring can be adjusted by a qualified technician, but you need to inform the tech how much more you wish it tightened so it clicks. You can do this during a CLA. If your lens is quite old, the grease does harden and Leica has long since replaced it with a different type. Last, a CLA depending on where you live and have a qualified M lens technican in your country, would be about $300 USD as a guide. In Australia with our self inflicted government inflation, its about $1500 AUD...last of the cheeky humor. r/ Mark
paulscr Posted November 30 Author Share #4 Posted November 30 Thanks LeicaR10, That’s reassuring. Think I’ll leave as is and play for a while.

Keith (M) Posted December 2 Share #7 Posted December 2 Advertisement (gone after registration) Bought mine just over two years ago and yes, when wide open there is fringing but this is easily dealt with in post processing. Click stops are quite positive (unlike my 135mm Telyt-M APO which randomly changes aperture in the slightest breeze...) 1
jakontil Posted December 4 Share #8 Posted December 4 The fringing is normal, not as noticeable as the 0.95, and more pronounced when paired with M11 in my case.. but all easily fixable in post as for the ring.. it would bcome loosen as time goes by, not that it’s abnormal or anything, even when bought from birth, it aint as fixed as other modern normal lens like the lux asph for instance
