tobenama Posted November 6 Share #1 Posted November 6 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have one lens (or L39 adapter rather) that my Leica M11 refuses to recognize. No matter what I select from the menu, including the "Off" choice, camera is saying "No lens" and the shutter stays closed. I have plenty of uncoded Leica lenses and they work just fine after manually selecting a profile, or selecting "Off". Any ideas what could be the problem with this particular lens/adapter? Why is this one lens (or adapter) different from all the others so that it does not work? The lens is a 12mm LTM Voigtländer, so there isn't a 6-bit profile I could paint in a suitable adapter if I had one. The camera has the latest firmware (2.1.3 if I remember correctly). The lens works perfectly fine in M9, MM, M240 and SL2 using the profiles camera is offering, or turning the profile off. The lens works fine also with an adapter borrowed from some other lens, recognized via the 6-bit code I've painted. The adapter is most probably a 50mm one, but I can't see it on the M11 as the frame lines will not light up and I did not have time to check it with some another camera. It should not matter anyway as there are no 12mm framelines.
Advertisement Posted November 6 Posted November 6 Hi tobenama, Take a look here Leica M11 no lens -problem. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jgeenen Posted November 6 Share #2 Posted November 6 Most likely the adapter has a cut-out in the area of the six-bit detector. This cut out is recognized by the M11 as „no lens attached“, if you have enabled the dust protection feature in the menu (which is the default). Either switch off that feature or use an adapter without cut-out.
lct Posted November 6 Share #3 Posted November 6 I would avoid black adapters too.
