andybarton Posted November 17, 2024 Author Share #75 Posted November 17, 2024 Well, that's the One Challenge over for another year. Thanks again to everyone who attended and everyone who has voted over the last couple of weeks. This year there were a fantastic number of entries to choose from. This makes choosing a top three more difficult in my experience and it was pleasing to see that every shot received a vote. I am happy, and humbled, to announce that the winner this year is me, with shot Nr 12 "Le banc sur la promenade", with 109 votes. In very worthy second and third places were Simon Leech, with 54 points for shot Nr 10 "Golden Years on the Promenade" and Pete Farnsworth with 40 points for shot Nr 18 "I'll be Princess Leia and you can be Luke Skywalker, okay?" Well done to everyone! I would like the €260 entry fee to go to the same charity that we support through the Forum Books, so that will be donated to them, via the JustGiving page tomorrow. As promised, I have attached a pdf, which collates all of the scores and shares all of the technical data for each shot. It also includes the information relating to the Night Challenge. Thanks again for making this such a fun weekend, and here’s to the next One Challenge in Palma, Mallorca, next October. erl Posted November 17, 2024 Share #77 Posted November 17, 2024 Wow! What a final result. Great mates of mine up there in the top three. Exceptionally well done Andy, and thanks for all your input to the Challenge. I'm so pleased that my mates of yore, Simon and Pete also figured really well. Congratulations. As for all the other entrants, so well done. It is a reflection of what a great location Nice is, as well as what a talented lot you all are. I was there , in spirit , with you all. 3
andybarton Posted November 17, 2024 Author Share #78 Posted November 17, 2024 Thanks gents. Last year, I received 6 points, so there is hope for us all. 😊 I’ve been waiting exactly 10 years to retake that photograph. I first took it the last time we were in Nice, while on the way to the Challenge in Istanbul. I only had my phone with me at the time, but decided that if we were ever back in the city, I’d take it “properly”. Fortunately for me, the next time was for the Challenge and the weather was great on the Saturday afternoon. I’m a lucky guy.

I have always espousing to protagonists at the Challenge to never leave home without a basic concept of your shot in mind. It has always worked for me and Andy is now the living proof. I don't know who feels better about it. Him, or me? (It really is him).
