Anyone had any experience with how good these Master Classes are produced by Thorsten Overgaard?

My Q3 arrives tomorrow and thought this may help me get familiar with it?

His classes are very expensive at $369 so wouldn't obviously pay that,  but its 90% off so about £30 in UK.

Any help appreciated

Cheers

I would think a 90% discount says it all

Hello there Flyer

As a heads up, I bought the full suite for the Q3 and the SL3 and all I have managed to get access to (so far) is a download of an ebook about "the art of loving the Q3" which, in itself, isn't very informative about using the camera, though does have a couple of nice historic references (not worth the price of entry though - even at discounted rate).

I have emailed directly, via several avenues, and have had no response or replies to any requests as to how I can get the additional content I have purchased.

The 2 full suites should get me full books, masterclass videos and lightroom presets for each camera but, again, nothing has been delivered at the time of writing this reply. I should add that I purchased these over a week ago as well so plenty of time to resolve (no pun) when allowing for people working/travelling and time differences etc.

Will update if I get an update and let you know how the videos pan out (pun intended).

All the best.

Mark

When I was first looking to get into digital Leica over a decade ago, I found his website very useful for understanding the M9 before buying. After buying and experiencing the camera for myself, I recognised that he knew what he was talking about.

Since then, however, his reputation for delivering paid-for products has been ‘mixed’ and has often been documented in this forum. I don’t doubt that he has the knowledge you might find useful, but, personally, I would not risk paying to get it.

I wouldn't do it even it were free.

My time is more valuable.

I once did an in-person teaching session with a fellow group of Leica enthusiasts about a decade ago with Thorsten. He was very personable in the flesh and I enjoyed the weekend. Since then, I have noticed nothing but issues in this forum with his products for sale: from aligator and elephant skin camera bags to lens hoods that never ship and the common theme appears to be a lack of responsiveness to issues when contacted by email.

Are you a photographer, of any kind? If so, you know how to make photographs. A new camera, any camera, is just a tool to put in your 'box'. Read the instructions that come with it (if you must ;)) and adapt the tool to your own creative instincts. Nobody else can do that for you. Shout yourself and maybe some other worthy person to lunch or dinner. Even take the camera with you and experiment, probably to the chagrin of those around you.

If you are at all familiar with Leica digital cameras, setting up Q3 43 with menu is perfectly straightforward and if you screw things up (I did something the other day and interval shooting started and I couldn't get rid of it) you simply go to factory reset and start again. User manual also comes as a PDF which it probably more convenient  than digging out the physical booklet for info.

Y

There's a Q3 three-part Youtube tutorial. Nearly everything the same as with the new 43.

Hello all

Reading the above is a miserable read as someone who trusted a "recognised" photographer and paid for the courses.

Have initiated a claim via bank and shall, from this day forth, adopt the mantra of "buyer beware".

Thanks for the information (as grim as it is).

Onward and upwards and all that..........

I bought the Q3 master classes about 3months ago and still the classes are not available. In my library keeps saying coming soon. Like you, I reached out by email to them and got one reply. Coming soon.  When I don't know. No one replies now. If anybody learns any new information please let me know. I think for future purchases I'll wait for everything to be available first.

Did you pay by Credit Card?

They will be liable for the money if you make a claim and should refund you.

Like many others here, I have met Thorsten. He came to lunch at the One Challenge in Copenhagen with his then-wife Joy. They are nice people, socially.

It’s just a shame that his business practices need a massive rethink as he lets so many people down.
