Really Right Stuff (RRS) tripod (TVC-34L) with ballhead (BH-55) suitable or not?

Dear all,

2013 I bought this tripod. With the ballhead.

And, with panning-clamps with lever-release.

Reading the instructions of Sigma 150-600 L-Mount, they warn using lever type clamps (some do not fix firmly and safely).

Well, is anybody using the similar equipment I have? Any experiences?

SL3, battery grip, Sigma 150-600.

Thank you very much in advance.

Best wishes

Stefan

I have the BH-55 with lever clamp, I use it on a Gitzo GT3543XLS for landscape photography my Fujifilm GFX 50S and Bronica SQ-B MF Film cameras with no issues. The longest lens I use with my GFX is the 100-200 (clamping to the tripod foot on the lens) and the Bronica 250mm (bo tripos clamp on the lens) I have had no issues with stability or security when they are on the tripod. The RRS Lever Calmps (I have 3) are not adjustable and I have found that some cheap Arca "compatible" plates are loose in the clamp but the RRS angle brackets on my GFXs are a nice snug fit.

I use Arca-Swiss type bases from a variety of manufacturers with RRS quick-release ball heads on all my cameras, some quite heavy. I have never had an issue. Actually, the RRS lever clamps are adjustable by turning the lever.

I have 3 RRS Lever Clamps, none can be adjusted. I have had other makes that adjust by turning the lever but none of my RRS ones do. I have tried.

I stand corrected. You are absolutely right. I have 3 lever clamps, and none turns. I don't know where I got the idea from. Maybe another brand that I might have owned in the past.
