M11-D availability

This camera was supposedly scheduled to be originally released in 2Q of this year; if that is indeed the case, Leica would have had more time to build additional inventory. Pure speculation on my part.

in this regard i am super curious to hear about Canada - see here my earlier post !

how long to we need to Däumchendrehen here till we see an m11d at the canadian horizon ?   everything here is on pre-order only.  one has no clue who the importer or  the supplier is in this country or the province one lives in.  sales people at the stores also don't seem to know how long it will take !

thank you for any information in this matter !

from a tax point of view it wouldn't be such a bad idea !

now, all i wanted is to support a local dealer - but one week into the game (the m11d release was last THU) and still without a clue when i am going to hold the camera in my own two hands...???

wow - good to know - thank you @egrossman !

now i only need to know what that means in terms of taxes and customs when shipping the camera up north to Montréal.

then i need to sort out another thorny issue : i am unfortunately 'locked in' with our local Leica shop as i gave them a few days ago my m10d as trade-in for the new m11d, under the silly assumption that i would get my shiny new m11d the next day - which of course didn't even arrive yet !  in the mean time was my old m10d right away offered to some other client and for that also sent out for a CLA to Leica !  i horribly regret this last step of mine from some days ago, stupido io !

i feel so empty, so without a goal or purpose with no camera dangling from my neck...

Apparently cameras and lenses are duty free imported into Canada from the US. https://www.photoprice.ca/article.cgi?duty-on-camera-equipment

I bought one yesterday, and they still have 5 in stock as of right now.

where and how did you buy your new m11d toy, @hdmesa ?  which country or city ?  or directly from LeicaCameraUSA ?

there is still nothing here at the canadian front - and that's very very annoying !

i am actually truly losing good shots every couple of days, while such things are by its nature irrecoverable...  my m10d, my former toy, i have traded in with the understanding that i would get hold of the m11d kind of the next day !

I ordered online directly from Leica USA's website.

thank you @hdmesa !

it's actually really confusing to get all information in right and interpret such properly.  i am for example told here that nowhere are m11d bodies available and the real culprit for that are worldwide disruptions in the production and goods logistic chains (at JAS) !  now, hearing about such today and then seeing at least a dozen persons of LUF and FM getting their m11ds south of the border, not to speak about Europe where they happily sell the m11ds for the last two weeks - how do i bring this together ?

here another non-photography article about JAS Forwarding, a major global logistics and freight forwarding company.

anyway, i was told an hour ago that i shall see my m11d by the end of this week.  i am number 1 on the waiting list which i myself initiated 2½ years ago...!

I decided to get the M11D about a week and a half ago, not being on any lists.  I called up Leica Boston to have my name placed on their list but was told one was available so paid for it and received it a week thereafter.  Not seeing the usual supply demand imbalance that we usually expect from "new" Leica models.  I experienced the same with the M11P.

Easier to saturate a shrinking market as the prices get closer and closer to $10K USD.

I agree although it does not feel as expensive as the M9 did when it first came out.  Maybe I am just getting more accustomed to Leica digital pricing whereas I was comparing the M9 pricing to film bodies back then.  Film and developing were also much less costly back then.  Off topic and I am not at all interested in the Q3 43 ( I am a 28 person) but am curious how many months this new camera will be unavailable.

The Q43 will probably show up immediately on eBay for $10K-$15K USD.
