AussieQ Posted September 7 Share #1 Posted September 7 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just back from a 2 week solo trip to South Korea. What a fantastic time! My camera of choice ended up being my Q3 and a little Osmo Pocket 3 for video. There was the occasional shower and the Q3 handled the rain well. The 28mm focal length was very pleasing though at times I did want wider. At no stage did telephoto really become an issue. It was very nice having such a small camera, so discreet and efficient. I had zero security issues in South Korea, I even left my Q3 sitting on a table whilst ordering my meal at a counter. All in all, great trip with a great camera. Travelling with one camera and lens is so good, the lack of excessive gear makes travel better. I even managed to take a tripod which was in my checked in luggage, it never came out of the bag. Night shots with the Q3 at f/1.7 or even higher were solid. Humidity was very high and only had a fog up when I ventured out on my first morning as I had a very late flight inbound. I managed to catchup with a few Leica stores in Seoul and even met a few travelling Leica photographers. A great trip and learning experience of another culture and country. Welcome, dear visitor! BWColor Posted September 7 Share #2 Posted September 7 Congratulations.. Love to see more images. Rain can be a useful tool in South Korea, so great to have a camera that is sealed from the elements.

BWColor Posted September 8 Share #5 Posted September 8 I recognize those shots. I returned from my Korean vacation in July (First vacation since 2019) I shot with two cameras during daily rain and only one was weather sealed. Anyway, I printed both a Blurb and MPIX albums and highly recommend MPIX. Also, loved the two page 12”x24” lay flat panorama MPIX prints. Blurb vs MPIX Have fun…

Christianjwagner Posted September 17 Share #12 Posted September 17 (edited) Hello, and thank you for those great pictures. I will be going to South Korea end of October, I heard the fall season is absolutely stunning. I recently bought a Q3, but I think I will return it and get a Q2 instead. The Q3 in my eyes is a little too technical, too precious, and just having a flip screen and USB-C charging is not worth the $2000 upgrade in my eyes. I really have no use for the new auto focus, besides if you have many subjects in the frame, it’s kind of spooky. Nothing for an epileptic (which I am not). I even think of getting a Q2 reporter edition, I saw that one in a store in Paris and fell in love, but I heard of quality issues , especially the fraying of the Kevlar and dislodged strap holders, we’ll see which gear brings me to South Korea. sorry for the off-topic discussion, glad you liked it in South Korea and I am personally very looking forward to it. BWColor Posted September 25 Share #13 Posted September 25 (edited) @AussieQ Thank you for your photographs. You did well seeing things through one focal length. The rainy days and the Q3 seem to be a good pairing. I was a bit nervous using my M11M in anything but light rain. That said, the rainy days make for great photo opportunities, especially in a country where street photography is frowned upon. When it heavily rains, nobody cares, or knows that you are taking photographs. Edited September 25 by BWColor
