vincentb Posted August 30, 2024 Share #1  Posted August 30, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, I've been using a Summilux 35mm Asph 11874 (pre fle) for quite some time. My sample was made in '96. I like the smooth out of focus areas wide open, and it has some glare around strong light sources which gives an interesting blend of modern rendering and very slight glow. The lens has been serviced by Leica and is perfectly clean. I recently tried another sample of the same lens, but made in '08 and the rendering is different. The 2008 version seem to have a bit more micro contrasts wide open, but also has a bit rougher bokeh. Finally, the bokeh balls are slightly smaller on the later lens, suggesting a slightly slower lens wide open? Anyone has informations about changes made during that lens lifespan? Or is it just variation from sample to sample?
