Super impressed with the Q3 battery. 900 shots!!

So I’ve had my q3 a month, not got too much use out of it. I went for a solid 7 hour photo walk around London. I shot with a mix of auto / manual focus and single / burst mode. When I finished up at the barbican I was shocked to see I had taken 916 photos and the camera showed maybe 25% battery remaining. I assumed I would get 400 ish shots on a charge, but didn’t expect this many!! Last time I used it for a few hours I got around 400. Anyone else reached a high number like this yet??

I guess you didn't use AFc+Tracking and 120fps evf. (Though you really should be using 60fps as its sharper)

I was very disappointed with my Q3 coming from the Q2, and if I use any of the above, the battery drains fast!! (my experience)

The first accessory I always recommend is an extra battery.

Everything else about the Q3 I love!

I never ever shot 900 pics a day - but to stay within the question of this thread, I can say that at the high temperatures we experience during our roundtrip to Italy atm, the battery of the Q3 drains relatively fast and the camera itself gets very hot. With one spare battery I manage to get over the day, though. Nonetheless I think the camera is a great performer!

Great re battery life...but what the heck do you do with 900 😱 photos you took in one day?   Are you actually going to look through all of them and decide which to keep?  I can't imagine doing that but I'm basically lazy.  Heck, I took 2700 digital pics with multiple cameras and lenses from 24mm to 600mm when my wife and I went on a 14 day trip to Africa eight years ago and I haven't yet looked through all of them! 🥱    My wife still occasionally asks if she's ever going to see the Africa pics!  😆  (probably not)

When I go out with my Linhof 4x5 I take 5 film holders (10 shots);  that's more my speed!  😉

Why is 900+ shots a day an issue? Come on folks, everybody does what they want and how they want it. I did 2500 shots a day when shooting for editorials, no biggie. Let us concentrate on battery life debate, not individual workflow preferences.

I mainly shoot scenes, so ill usually set the camera to 4fps or 7fps and wait for subjects to walk through. Sometimes it takes me multiples rounds to get a shot i am happy with.  Could easily do 100 shots of one scenes if i want the "Perfect one". Once i get one i am satisfied with i will move on. So when i go to select which photos i want to import, it will usually be the last one of the same scene. Takes me 5 seconds to find it. Or i will just use the star function in camera. So when i sit down on the train home or at a cafe, i can go into the fotos app and import the keepers with a star next to them! :)

Sometime a scene is so perfect and i will shoot on burst mode until i'm happy. Could be 10 shots, could be 100 :)

My question is not about whether the concept of making 100 shots of a scene (or 900 in a day) is good or bad, it's about the time needed (or at least the time I would need) to review all the shots and pick the best one(s).

Although I have a spare battery for my Q2, I have never had to insert it in a day's shooting but obviously that is very dependent on the number of shots and, probably even more relevant, whether the screen is used and/or each shot is reviewed.  I used it on a trip last year to Italy and the same battery lasted for the four days - not using screen for any pics and only occasionally reviewing a shot.
