most action in Photoshop relies on blurring channels. it takes away the issue, but a noticeable loss in resolution.

Yes, blur is the only way to eliminate moire, either in post, AA Filter on sensor, or closing aperture enough for diffraction to eliminate moire.

So re import your settings and change numbering in menu. You did save your settings right? Takes about 1 minute.

I wasn't sure how to save them and just figured it would help me to learn the camera better to do it all over again.  I looked at changing the numbering to match the last file I had but It appeared to only have an option to "reset - yes or no."  To clarify my original post I was only bummed about the number reset not the loss of profile.

If you reset the #, the first time it will create a folder Leica100 and the first exposure will be L100000.  If you reset again, it will create a second folder Leica101 with next exposure being L1010000.  Etcetera.  So, say, if yr last exposure before firmware update was L101xxxx, you could reset until you got to Leica102 folder, and the next exposure would be a higher number than the last exposure before firmware update.

I hope this makes sense.

I thought I read somewhere that if you put a card in the camera that has the last photo before a reset/firmware update, place card in camera and take a photo, the numbering will continue counting from the last image. Rather than resetting to 000001.

I hope so because I would like to be able to reset to the near exact number I left off.  Problem is with all the card/reader/cable issues I had and the testing I did I was deleting and reformatting like crazy.  If above works it would get me much closer than 000001 though.

It works for me. Updated via SD card, then put the SD/CFB cards back in with the last photos still on them, the next photo just continues the sequence.

Hi There Al

having reformatted etc. you should be able to copy your last file into the folder and the counter will carry on from there.

All the best

Forgive my ignorance but do you mean copy the file into the folder on a card or in the camera somewhere?  Has to be card, correct?

If you copy the last file into the 100LEICA Folder in a freshly formatted card:

so that it looks like this - then I think it carries on from that number

That seems like the easiest way as far as keeping the number sequence.  You simply need a separate SD card for the update!

Thanks!  This did the trick.  I had another card with last shots on it I forgot were still there and it picked up right where it left off.

Actually all Leica’s  work like this.

Do you have data that supports your statement that all Leica have this issue:

  • Sporadic error that resulted in unnoticed overwriting of existing recordings if the camera was not properly turned off beforehand (e.g., during battery replacement in standby mode or after an unexpected software interruption).

No that is something else. I was referring to the image numbering after updating.

I see, and I was referring to the fix for the bug that generated a lot of outrage online (do not buy SL3, stop shipping SL3, etc).
