ggetzin Posted August 26, 2006 Share #21 Posted August 26, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) I guess that's the way it is with good photo programs. Photoshop is a lot more expensive but I got it a long time ago for the few functions I use. The transfer of the raw is a pain there too, as has been seen on this forum. Somehow I pulled off the adjustment to my Elements but it didn't work in my CS. I know there are ways to do it, but it is not worth the time to me, so I just use the Elements to load from the camera and adust a bit. The thing is it takes forever and there is no thumbnail. I can get Aperture fairly cheap and would want it mainly to see thumbnail images before I download. But it also looks like a great photo oriented program and is now getting good reviews here. I can't imagine there is any comprehensive program that is cheaper than Aperture.
Advertisement Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 Hi ggetzin, Take a look here Aperture or Lightroom ?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ptomsu Posted August 27, 2006 Share #22 Posted August 27, 2006 Since I found out that PS is doing some magiic things as soon as I opne DNGs via Bridge (makes an original 19M file a 11M file - so I assume it does delete and compress somehow), I do not trust the Adobe producgt any longer. My workflow is now Capture One Pro, which leaves RAW (DNG) unchanged and allows me to compile JPEGs and TIFFs as I need, which I then can edit if needed in PS. I do hope that Aperture will support DNG soon, because then it will be my choice, since it is really superior from handling an user interface.
