Got a new iPad pro over the weekend. I cannot get it to connect to the M11. I have deleted all bluetooth pairings on both device and removed the WIFI settings in the iPad. deleted the app, reinstalled it handset it up. It finds the camera when I add it but it refuses to connect.

Is this a new iPad issue with the app or am I alone in my pain?

That’s a pain!  You can ask Apple to check out your iPad.
There are so many settings on the iPad have you checked through All your settings? Have you previously connected the M11 with any other iPads/iPhones?
Is your iPad/M11 working ok other than that particular connection?Troubleshoot your router!  Reboot..

It is a pain. My M11 connects fine to all my other IOS devices including a iPad mini and iPhone 15.

It will not be a router issue nor an internet issue as the M11 creates its own WIFI network for the iPad to connect to. BLuetooth does pair exactly as my phones when setting FOTOS up.

Tried setting M11 to performance WIFI and ECO wifi on both 2.4 and 5 and no difference. It reminds me of the day when a protocol changed in wifi and you could connect but  not really!

I am curious if anyone else out there has this same issue with the new iPad?

My iPad Pro 12.9 5th gen has no problems with any of my Leica cameras connecting to Fotos. I assume you are talking about the new M4 iPad Pro?

You are correct.  only the new M4 seems to be problem. I reached out to Leica but they just told me what I already knew, plus a step you don't actually need to take (I tried it anyway and it could have just been wording I was misunderstanding  in the  reply too).

Interesting, I have an 11" M4 coming Tuesday. I will see if I can get the cameras to connect. I may be sending you a PM asking what Leica told you.

Sure thing.

When you try to connect to your new iPad Pro M4 are you starting the pairing from your camera first before opening the FOTOS app on the iPad? This order of operations is important when first establishing a connection.

It may also be a matter of your camera being connected to a lot of devices. I would try deleting whichever connection you use least from the FOTOS menu on your camera and then trying to connect.

Also, when you try to connect and it says "could not connect" do you press ok and then let it continue to attempt to connect?

What firmware version is your camera on?

Kind regards,“

the bit about pairing isn’t really correct. I have never had to pair to the m11 separate from the connection the app created before and well it didn’t work anyway

good news though is if you take the USBc cable that came with the iPad it will work over usb just fine

I'm running into the same problem with my SL2-S. I swapped my iPad Normal (6th generation, which got along with Fotos fine) towards a new iPad Normal (10th generation). The Bluetooth seems to shake hands with the camera OK, but after a minute of trying to connect the WiFi, the app gives up and tells me to try it again.

Good new is if you connect the cable that came with your IPAD to the SL2s and then add the sl2s in FOTOS it seems to work (well it did on my M11). Hate having to use a cable but I guess that's life until someone update IOS or FOTOS.

  • 2 weeks later...

And the twist of the day..

I have done nothing to my iPad or M11 since the last attempt to use it wirelessly connected to the new iPad.

I was somewhat bored enjoying a little ice cream in a coffee shop and thought, "why not give it another shot"

deleted the m11 from every where just like last time. deleted devices from camera, closed and reopened photos, re-added them11 to FOTOS and holy crap it now works.

I have no idea why but I am not complaining.

Then I thought images were missing from the internal memory but my girlfriend reminded me I shot the cemetery on the M4-2 as a test roll (I just got them4-2) so all is well on that front.

Case closed 🙂
