DawgDude Posted June 12, 2024 Share #1 Posted June 12, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) I was thrilled to finally get the Q3 and love so much about the camera - especially the image quality. But in the first couple weeks, I’ve had more than a handful of freeze ups. I upgraded to the latest firmware, 2.0.3 before using the camera. I’m not going to be able to keep the camera with these issues. Any thoughts or advice is greatly appreciate.

You might get some feedback if you say what you are doing with the camera at the time it freezes.
Le Chef Posted June 12, 2024 Share #3 Posted June 12, 2024 The standard first steps are: 1) Choose a new/different memory card and reformat in camera. 2) Switch off WiFi, BT and Fotos. 3) Shoot single focus not continuous. One of all of them might make a difference.
Photo_Rick Posted June 13, 2024 Share #4 Posted June 13, 2024 I had the same issue and reported it to Leica at LeicaUSA.Repair@leica-camera.com. The response I received was, in part, "We’ve not received many complaints of Q3 units freezing so any context you can provide is useful in assessing your unique situation." I provided the requested additional information and my correspondent went silent. Subsequently, I upgraded the FW to the current version and that seems to have helped the issue a bit. I think at least part of the issue, at least in my case, was my inability to determine the status of the camera given its relatively long start up/shut down times (its' a computer, after all.) jaapv Posted June 13, 2024 Share #5 Posted June 13, 2024 SD card. If it has been used previously in another camera and has not been deep formatted it will cause such problems.
ruskkyle Posted June 13, 2024 Share #6 Posted June 13, 2024 (edited) I would suggest switching to the fastest SD card you can get your hands on. Using the [reformatted] V90s I bought for my Canon Cinema camera has cut boot times in half and I never get freezing issues. shoedrift Posted June 20, 2024 Share #8 Posted June 20, 2024 Two things I found helped: - As RobW0 said, faster SD. I found the Sony Tough V90 worked the best. - I was used to taking a few photos and then turning the camera off. On the A1 it would turn on/off so fast, this was my habit. With the Q and Q3, I keep them on and let them go on standby. My Q3 especially didn't like being turned off and on frequently. Maybe related to the bluetooth as well? Not sure. Le Chef Posted June 21, 2024 Share #10 Posted June 21, 2024 I wonder sometimes when you get a “camera keeps failing” type post whether the OP just takes the camera back to the dealer and trades it in, without persevering. We may never know…
bobtodrick Posted June 21, 2024 Share #11 Posted June 21, 2024 I seldom respond to queries like this from first time posters because, as in this case he hasn’t thanked anyone for their time or let anyone know if their suggestions helped. When did manners become a thing of the past?

When did manners become a thing of the past? A sad indictment of the world in which we live. What the older generation regard as good manners is unfortunately not shared by many in the newer generation. My wife and I made a point of raising our children to have courtesy, manners and acceptable behaviour towards everyone to whom they come into contact.
