Hi, could be an obvious question: I attached my lens and found that suddenly moving them focus tab had no effect, I then removed it, re-attached and then still no effect (for whole range of focus, checked carefully). I wandered around gloomily for a further 3 minutes and focussed again and it worked.

Is it possible to attached the FLE V2 in the less than 0.7m zone such that the lens doesn't engage with the roller throughout the whole range? I don think that's what happened as I don't remember taking the lens off again between the working and non working focus episode after second re-attachment.

No, I didn't have my finger over the rangefinder winder I checked very carefully and nothing was focussing in live view either.

The camera in question is an M11P and on purchase didn't focus initially unless the lens was fully rotated and then clicked back. This seemed to settle but over the 5 months I've had it focus has gone out of calibration 4 times.

Is the lens effect something others have experienced or does the camera need TLC?

Cheers for comments

LCT; I don't know as it miraculously started working, suggesting a sticky rangefinder.

Knorp; not that I could see which is again suspicious.

It also did this for a spell when I first bought it new. So much so that I took it back to the shop. Again, by the time I returned it had righted itself making it a wasted 2 hour round trip and me look daft!

Mmm, so it comes and goes ... 🤔

Sounds very unsatisfactory to me, especially as this behaviour started from day 1.

So much the better but if you've got a sticky RF it happened to me with other M cameras. I used to move gently the roller cam with the finger and it worked fine afterwards. Unsure if your experience is the same but i would say "very gently" in case you never did it before.

Thanks, I thought that too and at the time tweaked it in an out and re-attached the lens. Made no difference, but then 2 minutes later it had unstuck itself. So whether the tweaking helped or not I'll never know! The other issue with the body is that it has gone out of calibration 4 times so an irritating combination of being too free and too tight!

The issue is with the roller. I had that problem with my M-P and had it fixed by Leica via my dealer, at no cost. I don’t know of a simple effective do it yourself solution for this
