Sparkassenkunde Posted April 25, 2024 Share #3 Posted April 25, 2024 Both are fabulous, but the first is me wins for me with this striking pose and the ply with the veil. Perfect lighting too! Thanks for sharing! 2

Maybe because it is unusual for us to take photos from someone with a veil vor 20 Stunden schrieb Lelmer: Both are great...very slight preference for the second one. werner__ Posted April 26, 2024 Share #7 Posted April 26, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Very very different!!
fotografr Posted April 26, 2024 Share #8 Posted April 26, 2024 To me, the first image is very strong and mysterious. The second one doesn't appeal to me for the same reason I've mentioned previously. I don't like contrived, unnatural hand and arm positions. Can you imagine walking down the street and seeing Lilly leaning up against a wall in this pose? What would your impression be? 1

Dare I say that the pose of the second portrait reminds me of a flamenco dancer. I feel sure that was not the intention, on the other hand I love the directness of the gaze in the first image which is absolutely first rate. 1

Werner, Brent and David, like always, thanks a lot for your time to discuss the photo! I always like these kind of discussion and I fully understand your points. One the one hand you have a more traditional photo where my focus was on her eyes. On the other hand you have the same model in a totally different pose (with bony elbows Werner) which is for sure not a natural pose. But you also have to see these two different photos in a context where the shooting took place. It was in Tehran and 20 m away from our location you had many women on the streets with a tschador. For Lily it was normal to take a photo with the veil, she knows how to emphasize her face and her eyes. And in the second phase of the shooting without the veil she very often just stretches her arms maybe like „I am feeling better“. And maybe this pose is also in contrast to the more or less traditional setting of the first photo.
