Travel with SL3: Venice and Amsterdam

I spent ten days traveling and photographing with SL3, with photography being a secondary priority.

In an Oberwerth Medium SL bag, I carried SL3, Lumix S 14-28/4-5.6, VE-SL 24-70/2.8, and Lumix S 100/2.8 Macro. I also had a Summicron-SL 35/2 with me, mainly for late-night walks in Venice.

Leica Perspective Control (LPC) is an essential functionality for me and is one of the notable advantages of using Leica cameras when traveling. LPC streamlines the selection process and helps with proper framing, which may lead me to choose Leica over Sony and Nikon for travel.

I usually carried only the SL 24-70/2.8 with a spare battery and SD card in my pocket. I never shot more than 200 images in a day, so I never had to use the spare battery. The CFE slot was left empty, and an OWC 128GB SD card was used for all shooting.

I did not have any lockup or any issues whatsoever.

As with every mirrorless camera, preserving highlights in high-contrast situations often caused shadows in the EVF to become too dark for framing. Setting iHDR to high helps a bit, though I prefer something like Olympus’s S-OVF functionality.

The tiltable LCD is a valuable addition for occasional above-head and below-waist photography.

I will post images in this thread.

Great images, overall and I see why the PC is important to you. You demonstrated how useful it can be extraordinarily well. I love Venice.
