In my opinion I'd want an external ISO dial like you've come up with in your second design. The less menu driven controls the better. I don't care much for megapixels. Nikon have proven that it's not everything. 12mp is enough for me. Get rid of the bottom plate. I'd like a viewfinder without the 24mm lines so the viewfinder doesn't look cluttered with the 35mm lens on. I guess this could be an option? Either way, I don't mind the 24mm lines that much seeing as the 24 Elmarit is amazing. I also think better battery life is a must. In terms of the software, I'd love an option to just display a full screen histogram instead of the image after capture. I cant stand the bubble level! (Sorry.) But I do like the rest of your sketch. The IR issue and shutter noise are my only real beefs with the M8 and I'm assuming Leica have taken the publics feedback concerning these two things to heart already.
