Anyone have a source for this coding kit? I found one place on line that has it - kinda sketchy I thought (weird shopify site):

https://supply-electronics.myshopify.com/products/coder-kit-cv-z1-0-for-zeiss-zm-lenses

But they apparently do have it and it can be bought for about $90 with shipping. Apparently Match technical is gone, and every other place that used to have it is either gone, or doesn't have it in stock. Anyone use it before? Got one you want to sell?

I have two made from brass (!) and one 3D printed from Thingiverse, the link that @Ecar posted.

Brass? Now that would be nice.  I think most people like myself just want something that works and could code a few lenses.  Problem I've seen is that most you see advertised on the net cost $70-90+ and is just silly for what it does...and they don't even include a bag of "crunchy frogs"🤪.   I'll be happy with my purchase when it arrives as long as it helps me code the few VC lenses and the earlier model summicron I have.  Then it will set until needed again...  Brass, now that's cool...I'm envious.

I downloaded the .STL file from Thingiverse.com and then found a place called Print a Thing, uploaded the .STL file and paid. They say one to two weeks and the price was very reasonable. The cost for one is $1.11 + $5 printer setup + $5 shipping. You can add additional ones without the setup or shipping costs going up. I do have a cardboard template from a user on FM but I wanted something a little more durable.

Yes, the marginal cost is ridiculously low, which is why I had a few made, just in case. They work well.

I found a place that sells the template but I had trouble placing an order.   I think the site may have had an issue at the time,  I'll check it again later.

Like a few others, I ordered one this morning. Just got notified that it's already shipped.

My order from Print a Thing arrived on Monday so less than a week. It works perfectly.

The template I ordered from akaralabs arrived today, only took 8 days...impressive.  Decided to test on a VC 35mm f2 Ultron using a fine point 0.4mm Sharpie pen.  Worked like a champ.  I'll code some others when I have more time.

I have same coder and used Sharpie, sadly it doesn’t work. What is your camera, mine M240P, no cigar.

I've had trouble using Sharpies as well. Switched to Milwaukee INKZALL Ultra Fine and that works great for me.

Sorry to hear that, mine is on a m10r.  I marked the lens using the template then after removing it I filled in the marks a bit with the same pen just to make the black stand out.  My marks aren't quite as large as those on my factory coded lenses but it worked fine.

Sharpie is a good pen. However recognition can be unreliable if the mark is too fine. I generally experienced it is best to close the gap between consecutive black dots and slightly increase the back dot‘s width until it works. With Voigtländer bayonets it should not be necessary to mark the white gaps. I had it since M9, the M240 was the most picky one. But don’t give up, with a little bit of try and error it will work.

meanwhile, my sharpie had dried out and I switched to a Uni Super Ink Marker PNA-125 pen, which works reliably with the M11

Many years ago I had M9 and Chinese 6-bit flange painted with Humbrol Matt paint worked.  This is my first experiment with coder on M240 camera and Sharpie, I guess it is question of try and error, will carry on.

Thank you all on suggestions, Amazon will make fortune selling all variety of Matt permanent markers.

Edit, if anyone is wandering, it is easy to check coder against already coded kens, pits coincide .  I also filled gaps between adjacent “1” or pits,  lens is modern Voigtlander M so flange is perfect for aftermarket coding.  Perhaps good Matt paint should work.

Sharpies are not dark enough in my experience. Better use them to mark coding dots in the first place, then remove the template and apply black paint or black ink over the marks to avoid false code readings.

Here's what I used...mainly because it was handy. 🙂
