danimeep Posted January 25, 2024 Share #1  Posted January 25, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi all, I'm new to the Leica world and would love to know what version of the lens this is. I looked into wiki and it appears that this serial number (3785453) matches with this: 3785360 3786359 35mm f/2 ASPH Summicron-M (black) 1997 1000  Does this mean this lens is version 4? Is this a good copy to purchase? Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! Advertisement Posted January 25, 2024 Posted January 25, 2024 Hi danimeep, Take a look here Leica Summicron 35mm lens - which version is this?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Maarten Posted January 25, 2024 Share #2 Â Posted January 25, 2024 Version 4 is the last spherical version, issued in the early eighties. The lens shown is the first aspherical version. A good performer and slightly bigger and heavier than the V4.

No, this lens in the picture is a Summicron 35mm ASPH v1 which replaced the Summicron 35mm v4. It is a very good lens with the same optics as the current version. -Thomas
