Any rumors on If/when this lens will be updated? I know for some it's not a necessity, but would be nice to have!

Totally agree, nice to have. I fact I am stalling a decision for this totally irrelevant and non-necessary lens. 🤭

Yes, and I would expect it would have to have an upgrade in design in line with the 35 cron-m APO (more sophisticated aspherical corrections than just one surface) and more modern aberration-corrections, to allow a sublime close focus, all that for the same price point. A dream: 50mm Summicron-APO & CF to 45cm.

as a side note on trends -

When I started off with the M240 I also bought several 'soft' Sonnar lenses, that in fact turned out great and even sharp but not predictably; and now with the M10-R I am buying some very sharp lenses, and at least I'm shooting at smaller apertures where the sharpness of my current lenses is a given. I looked at the new 50-lux some weeks ago (too big for my liking) and therefore looked at the alternative from the red dot. I hate the CA that other manufacturers bundle in to their offering, by the way.

Nice to have? Essential capability - in a small package, stealthy so to say.
