Beautiful lens. I’ll periodically walk out with a three lens set on my MP240 or M246 of the CV 35mm f1.2 III, 21mm f1.4 and 75mm f1.5.

Weighty, yes, but compared to my Nikon D850 and three f2.8 Nikkor Zooms? LOL….

My CV 21/1.4 does not get frequent attention - but it definitely should!!

The combination of wide angle and large aperture may add a certain 3D-pop to the photos (cf. the attached photo taken with my M10R) which can be appealing for contextual portraits.

IMHO, it is also superior to its predecessor 21/1.8 (sharper corners, less field curvature).

The main reasons why it does not get frequent attention is of course its weight and size. It is however still far from extreme but nevertheless it is not my walk-around lens like a 35 or 50 APO.

If you would however plan to use it mostly at smaller apertures, you should rather consider its tiny sibling 21/4 or 21/3.5, because the benefit of the 21/1.4 is negligible, if existing at all.

Meant to reply a few days ago, but I really love my copy of this lens. Despite being huge and heavy, it is such a wonderful lens. I was similarly thwarted by the conspicuous lack of online reviews and videos about it, but took the chance with absolutely no regrets.

When I have the time I'll add a few photos, but since you seem to be looking for feedback now, I wanted to add my experience. I would buy it again if it was stolen.

Thanks! I usually stay away from FM but I will give it a world.  I had the CV 50mm F1 and that was a beefy boy but I got rid of it to go smaller, now all my lenses are f2 amid find myself wanting something faster.

I have both the 21 F1.4 and 50 F1. The 21 seems to be a bit longer than the 50, but other than that, they are identical in size and the lens hoods are interchangeable. If the 50 was too large, then just know that the 21 isn’t any smaller. In the big picture, the size doesn’t bother me, as they are both stellar lenses.

Some random examples of my 21mm 1.4 from an M10. A bunch of different, random types of scenes to hopefully give variety.

I hope I exported the files correctly with enough quality to allow you to see them in reasonable quality.
