I don’t know where you are from but maybe your part of the world is further up the list. Also to equate Bilbao or Barcelona in terms of crime with the rest of Spain is like saying Italy is unsafe, just take a look at Naples. 

And even in Barcelona the urban district and the time of the day (night) will make a huge difference. Luckily, except and old bike none of my belongings were stolen during several years in Barcelona.

Regarding the question on the lens: the Zeiss which I owned until the beginning of this year is reported to have a smoother bokeh.

The only downside was its weight and size.

Got close to getting mugged once. It was in Barcelona subway a few years ago.
